Summary
JikTools (the "Services") consists of this website and the related browser extension and web tools, including JikDown. Your videos and personal information are not sent to external servers. There are no accounts, and we do not run analytics, advertising or tracking scripts.
Information we do not collect
The Services process what you save on your own device. We do not receive or store:
- the videos or files you save, or their web addresses;
- the pages you visit or the media detected on them;
- your name, email address or any account data (there is no sign-in).
Server access logs
Requests to jiktools.com pass through Cloudflare, which acts as a content delivery and security proxy, and reach our hosting server. Cloudflare and our server record standard technical access data such as IP address, time, requested address, browser type and response status. We use it only to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse. We do not use it to profile or identify you.
Our server keeps these records for 11 days and then deletes them. Cloudflare keeps its own logs under its own retention rules.
Country detection (/api/geo)
Some pages ask our /api/geo endpoint for your country. Cloudflare derives a two-letter country code from your IP address and our server returns only that code. The code is used to choose which sponsored card, if any, to show. We do not store it or link it to you, and the response is not cached. The request itself appears in the access log like any other request.
Web fonts (jsDelivr)
Pages load the Pretendard font from the jsDelivr content delivery network (cdn.jsdelivr.net), which is run by a third party. When your browser requests the font, jsDelivr can see your IP address, browser information and that the request comes from jiktools.com. jsDelivr's own policies apply to that data. We load no other third-party scripts, fonts, analytics or advertising code. The browser extension loads no external resources.
Processing by companies outside your country
To deliver the site we rely on Cloudflare, Inc. (United States, and the other countries where its network operates) and the jsDelivr content delivery network, which is operated by third parties in several countries. When you visit, the following information is therefore handled outside your country of residence:
- Items: IP address, browser and device information, the requested address and time.
- Purpose: delivering the pages and fonts, security and abuse prevention.
- Recipients: Cloudflare, Inc. and the operators of the jsDelivr network.
- Retention: as set out in our server log period above and in each provider's own policy.
These transfers happen automatically when your browser connects to the site. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Cookies and local storage
The site itself sets no cookies and does not store information in your browser to recognise you; your language is matched from your browser settings on each visit. Cloudflare may use technical cookies for security as part of its service.
Affiliate links
Some pages and the extension may show cards labelled as sponsored or affiliate links. They are ordinary links: nothing is sent to the partner until you click. After you click you leave JikTools, and the partner's own privacy policy and cookies apply. We may earn a commission on purchases or sign-ups made through these links.
Online downloader
When you use the online downloader, your browser requests the address you entered, and the files it points to, directly from that site's servers. Requests are sent without cookies. Nothing passes through JikTools servers, and the video is written to your device only.
Browser extension
The extension runs entirely in your browser. To find videos it examines the network requests of the tabs you have open, locally. Detected media addresses, page titles and temporary download job information are kept in chrome.storage.session, which is erased when you close the browser. Nothing is transmitted to us or to any third party. When you open the extension's popup, it may read the playlist of a detected video from the original site to show the available qualities, so the original site can receive a request before you press Download. When you press Download, the extension fetches the video directly from the original site, as your browser would. The extension does not call /api/geo; the country for sponsored cards is derived from your browser's language setting. Requests to the original site carry two headers, Referer and Origin, and both contain only the origin of the page you are on (for example https://example.com), because some sites require them. By default these requests also include the cookies your browser already holds for the media host, that is, they use your existing signed-in session; this is a request to that site, not a transfer to us or to any third party.
Your rights
Apart from the server logs described above, we hold no information that identifies you. You may ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, using the contact details below. The privacy officer listed below handles these requests.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the Services handle information, we will update this page and its date before the change takes effect.
